Cricket Victoria has been advised by Prahran CC of the passing of former 1st XI Colin Hyland (Cap # 258 at Prahran) on Saturday 9th October 2021, aged 92.
Colin debuted for the True Blues in their 1st XI in the 1948/49 season, eventually amassing 123 1st XI appearances before concluding his District career after the 1958/59 season. During his time at Toorak Park, Colin scored 2,596 runs @ 20.76 with the willow (including 4 centuries with a best of 148 and 7 half centuries) and took 46 wickets with the ball @ 19.63 (best of 4/41) and 60 catches. Colin was also a part of Prahran's 1954/55 Premiership team.
After playing at Prahran, Colin joined Ormond CC in the Subbies and would play 1st XI for 20 years, notching up 283 1st XI games (including 8 1st XI Premierships) for Ormond (second behind John Craig's 339 1st XI games), scoring 7,301 runs @ 28.74 with 5 centuries (top of 116) and 33 half centuries (placing him inside the Top 20 run scorers of all time in the Subbies) and taking 545 wickets @ 15.26 (with a best of 7/31 and 15 x 5 wicket hauls).
