Doric hat-trick sets up Bombers
Date of Event Victorian Premier Cricket: Sat Oct 26, 2019 8:51PM
Northcote's Brandon-Jones is bowled by O'Neill

A miserable day in Melbourne has hindered all Premier Cricket matches today. Showers moved across Victoria throughout the day, with all matches impacted. Outstanding individual performances were recorded by Panther James Nanopoulos with a career-best 7/43, Cat Dom McGlinchey (34 & 5/22) and nineties to Alec Smith, Harrison Emms, Matt Underwood and Brodie Symons.

Play ranged from 93 overs at Camberwell to just 28.1 overs at Ringwood.

Essendon had Ringwood in early strife at a calamitous 5/7 at Ringwood, before the Rams "recovered" to finish on 8/67. Tom O'Donnell (4/30) and Matt Doric (3/33) did most of the damage, with Doric taking the first hat-trick of the season, dismissing Holland, Came and Hartill. The Rams lost five wickets in nine balls after O'Donnell took two in consecutive balls in the previous over.

Camberwell Magpies finished with 254 against Monash Tigers at Camberwell. Former Tasmanian Alec Smith (93) was the star with the bat, while Marcus Berryman (4/57) and Dom Matarazzo (3/35) did best with the ball.

Frankston Peninsula staged a good fightback against Kingston Hawthorn to post 294 after being 5/123 at the Butler Oval. Brodie Symons (96) and B Eccles (64) each recorded career highs. The Hawks resume on 0/15 next Saturday.

In other games Casey-SM (190) and Carlton (0/20) were evenly poised at Casey Fields, Dandenong (6/54) may struggle against Geelong (155) at Shepley Oval, Footscray (2/165) and St Kilda lost a lot of time at the CitiPower Centre, Melbourne (3/65) should overhaul Northcote (182) at the Albert Ground and Greenvale Kangaroos and Melbourne Uni (2/191) may struggle to achieve a result at Greenvale.

All matches continue next Saturday.
