Essendon Cricket Club is seeking applications for the vacant roles of Assistant Coach and Development Coach.
Essendon CC, established in 1872, is one of the founding members of the Victorian Premier Cricket competition. The Premier competition is the highest level of club cricket played in the State, and is the competition from which all Victorian and First Class teams are selected.
Applicants will be encouraged to provide evidence of previous coaching and/or playing careers. As part of any application, applicants should provide the following: - Detailed list of playing and/or coaching record, - Detail of their experience and coaching philosophies, - References from previous clubs and/or other cricket personnel.
The Assistant Coach will assist the Senior Coach with the planning, organisation and execution of all training sessions. They will conduct skill-based activities and drills in one-on-one, small group or whole club settings. They will provide technical advice to all players in all skill sets. The Assistant Coach will work with the 1st XI on match day and provide assistance as well as tactical advice to on-field leaders.
The Development Coach will be responsible for the ongoing development of the club’s younger players (typically playing 3rd and 4th XI Cricket) and play an active role in the delivery of training drills and provision of feedback and advice to players. They will also be responsible for delivering the club’s High Performance Squad program (junior development squad) both before and during the season. They will also drive the recruitment of talented junior players from the Pathway system and neighbouring junior associations and clubs.
Essendon CC is a respected, well-resourced club. In addition to the four Men’s Senior Teams, the club also fields seven junior teams, including an all-girls team, and runs a MILO in2CRICKET program on Friday nights and a MILO T20Blast program on Sundays. The club also has plans to expand into female Cricket into the future.
Prospective coaches will work alongside the Senior Coach and other coaching panel members and be responsible for the four Men’s Senior Xis. They will enjoy our excellent ground and wicket conditions, and corresponding training facilities at both Windy Hill and Cross Keys Reserve, in Essendon.
The current playing list is young and should be attractive to any potential coach. With three out of four senior teams playing finals in season 2017/18, there is a foundation for continued growth and improvement. The list also features several First Class and BBL players, and several more Under Age State and National representatives.
Appropriate remuneration will be provided.
For further queries, or to send applications for either role, please contact the Senior Coach, Mitch Johnstone, at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0404 254 765.
