Miller guides Prahran home with a ton
Date of Event : Sat Oct 7, 2017 8:30PM
Shaun Miller scored a brilliant unbeaten 123 for Prahran

Victorian Premier Cricket returned to Melbourne's grounds today amid glorious sunshine, with three centuries and two 5-fors recorded.

Only one of those efforts resulted in victory, with Shaun Miller's unbeaten 123 guiding Prahran home over the Bulldogs. Outstanding centuries from veterans Simon Hill (124*) and Dean Russ (115*) went unrewarded as the Magpies and Doggies went down to Uni and Prahran respectively.

Tightest matches of the day were the Premier Final replay between Melbourne and Fitzroy Doncaster at the Albert Ground and Footscray v Prahran at the Merv Hughes Oval. The Demons throttled the Lions' reply to win by seven runs, and Prahran, guided by Shaun Miller's unbeaten 123, successfully chased down the Doggies' 7/227.

Newly appointed Monash Tigers' skipper Dan Sartori (95*) led his side to victory over Kingston Hawthorn at the Walter Galt Oval, while Carlton's Tom Smyth (73* & 3/24) had a great game against St Kilda at Princes Park.

Ringwood comfortably accounted for Casey-South Melbourne despite Nathan Lambden's superb figures of 10-3-16-6. Jackson Freeman (61) and leggie Pat Ashton (4/33) were the Rams' stars.

In other games, Northcote held out Geelong, Dandenong easily beat Frankston Peninsula, Essendon outclassed Greenvale Kangaroos and Melbourne Uni had a good win over Camberwell Magpies, despite Simon Hill's unbeaten 124 for the Magpies, his 14th Premier century.
