Una Paisley Medal preview
Date of Event : Wed Apr 5, 2017 2:36PM

This season’s Una Paisley looks set to be one of the closest battles in recent times with a number of players capable of taking out the award.

Prahran duo Kath Hempenstall and Emma Inglis have had outstanding seasons for the True Blues.  Always consistent with the ball, Hempenstall stamped herself as one of the competitions best all-rounders this season with 262 runs at 37 whilst Inglis hit 363 at 60.

Melbourne’s Amy Vine led the competition with 386 runs whilst her teammate Hayley Jensen is sure to feature prominently in the vote count again with 239 runs and 13 wickets.

Essendon Maribyrnong Park’s Molly Strano should be a contender with 368 runs at 92, the highest aggregate in the competition.  Teammate Chloe Rafferty could be a dark hose, the youngster finishing second on the wicket takers tally with 15.

A consistent finisher near the top of the leaderboard, Cassie’s Brock’s 15 wickets at 17 for Box Hill should also see her amongst the top vote getters once again whilst past winner Anna Lanning had another good season with the bat and should poll well.

With the revamped competition structure, which saw the One Day and T20 formats split into separate competitions, as well as the addition of two new teams into the Premier Firsts T20 competition, this season will see the following Player of the Season awards presented:

• Premier Firsts One Day Player of the Season – Una Paisley Medal
• Premier Reserves One Day Player of the Season
• Premier Seconds One Day Player of the Season – Sue Woolcock Award
• Premier Firsts T20 Player of the Season
• Premier Seconds T20 Player of the Season
