Rounds 16 & 17

VB PREMIER CRICKET

Important wins by CAMBERWELL MAGPIES and GEELONG have shot those two sides into the top eight with just two rounds remaining. It will be a fascinating three weekends of cricket.

FOOTSCRAY EDGEWATER has regained top spot after a crushing outright win against MELBOURNE UNI, while CARLTON and MELBOURNE continue to rack up the points.

VB ONE-DAY FINAL

For the third season in a row, CARLTON meets ST KILDA in the VB One-Day Final, to be played at Princes Park on Monday March 10. The Saints will be aiming for their fourth successive One-Day title.

GROUNDS

The Grand Prix continues to present challenges at this time each year and, with MELBOURNE v ST KILDA scheduled in Round 17, 2007/08 is no different. While Cricket Victoria can assist with two venues at Central Reserve, finding another two is not easy, especially with a Saturday/Sunday fixture. When advised of the dilemma, VSDCA club NOBLE PARK quickly offered the use of its top class ground and facilities and, for the first time, a Premier 1st XI match will be played at the Pat Wright Snr Oval. It will be a vital match for both the Demons and the Saints. Cricket Victoria extends its sincere appreciation to the VSDCA and to Noble Park President Craig Ortland and his club for their enthusiastic willingness to assist. Great to see FRANKSTON PENINSULA back at Jubilee Park for the last three rounds of the season. It has been a long and trying season for the Heat and they are very pleased to be "back home".
