Rounds 14 & 15
VB PREMIER CRICKET
Important wins by CAMBERWELL MAGPIES and RICHMOND have kept them within touch of the top eight with just four rounds remaining.
FOOTSCRAY EDGEWATER has regained top spot after CARLTON fell to GEELONG. It was a vital win by the Cats as well, not only regaining a spot in the eight, but giving the club a huge boost after some "fade-outs" post Christmas in recent seasons.
Last season's finalists DANDENONG and ST KILDA have also made good progress up the ladder in recent weeks and, as they gather momentum, there is no doubt that clubs at the top will be looking over their shoulder.
There are some cracking matches coming up over the next two rounds and these will decide whether finals aspirations for some clubs are a reality or a pipedream. DANDENONG meets NORTH MELBOURNE at home and GEELONG away, CAMBERWELL MAGPIES meet ESSENDON at home and RICHMOND away and FOOTSCRAY EDGEWATER meets RICHMOND at home and MELBOURNE UNI away. All of these matches are critical.
The ST KILDA v GEELONG match in Round 14 will also be a ripper and, as it happens, a replay of the One-Day Quarter Final last Sunday, albeit at a more lisurely pace. The RINGWOOD v CARLTON match at Jubilee Park in Round 15 will also be a beauty.
CV 200 CLUB
On a personal level, Cricket Victoria extends sincere congratulations to Allan Wise, Tony Ward and Dale McDonald on their recent induction to the exclusive CV 200 Club. Although the first two have had a small taste of cricket at the next level, their elevation is an appropriate recognition of their outstanding respective contributions to Premier Cricket.
The CV 200 Club was established in the 1980s primarily for this purpose, ie to provide some tangible recognition for the District players and umpires who give decades of service for little or no reward. Inductees receive a 200 Club pass which gives them admission to all cricket for life as well as the eagerly anticipated annual 200 Club Dinner towards the end of each season.
VB ONE-DAYERS
With the completion of the VB One-Day Quarter Finals last Sunday, four teams remain in the mix as we head to the Semi Finals on Sunday 17 February. Four terrific Quarter Finals were played last Sunday, with the Blues, Saints, Bombers and Magpies all successful.

GROUNDS
The constantly changing situation regarding the state of grounds is something the Pennant Committee is constantly monitoring. The heavy traffic of matches through January, together with the hot conditions, has taken its toll on our ovals, with North Melbourne, Central Reserve, Ringwood, Fitzroy Doncaster, Camberwell, Frankston, Geelong and the Albert Ground all affected. And these are just the main ovals! Several of our 3rds and 4ths ovals are looking somewhat worse for wear.
Keep an eye on the Premier Cricket website in the coming weeks for any changes in venues.
PRIMARY EDGE CUP FINAL
Another terrific game of Twenty20 cricket was played at Toorak Park last Wednesday evening.
MELBOURNE took the Primary Edge Cup and $3,000 prize-money with an exciting last-over win against PRAHRAN. The home club pocketed $1,500 as runner-up. The Demons' Andrew Mc-Donald was adjudged the Player-of-the-Final, while Prahran's Neil Schlittler took out the Player-of-the-Series award for his outstanding performances in the lead-up matches.
