Walter Dudley

Dudley won Northcote's bowling averages eight times, was club champion three times and headed the VCA bowling averages in 1946/47 with 35 wickets @ 11.37. He was an outstanding servant over twenty seasons at Northcote and his 556 wickets @ 17.17 remains the club record, almost 200 wickets ahead of the next best (Percy Chivers' 357). His best seasons were in 1943/44 (50 wickets @ 13.16) and 1942/43 (47 @ 10.95). Dudley took ten or more wickets in a match twice - 11/64 (8/21 & 3/43) v Kew in 1941/42 and 10/33 (9/29 & 1/4) v Collingwood in 1949/50 - and was also a handy batsman, scoring 3634 runs @ 17.64 with 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries. 

Played 4 first class matches for Victoria in 1940/41, taking 11 wickets @ 36.55. One of those was Don Bradman, for a duck, at Adelaide on Christmas Day, 1940.

Dudley also played VFL football for Fitzroy (3 games) and Footscray (30) between 1940 and 1945.
