Cosier Gary John

A much-travelled, burly red-haired all-rounder, Gary Cosier won the 1980/81 Ryder Medal when he returned to Northcote as captain-coach. Cosier (35 votes) won clearly from Prahran's Simon Davis (26) and Richmond's Andrew Quarterman (25). Cosier made his debut for Northcote as a 15 year-old in 1968/69 and three years later for the Bushrangers but, after playing in the Dragons' 1973/74 premiership side, he headed first to Adelaide and then to Brisbane. Following his return to Melbourne, Cosier was an important member of St Kilda's 1984/85 and 1985/86 premiership sides. | |||||||||||||||
