A left-hand batsman and right-arm medium pacer, Andrew Wildsmith polled 39 votes to win the 1984/85 Ryder Medal, 9 votes clear of St Kilda's English import John Emburey. Wildsmith was a member of Northcote's 1986/87 premiership team, but the Final against Collingwood was his last match, electing thereafter to play sub-district cricket, winning the RM Hatch Medal in 1988/89 for Ivanhoe.
Wildsmith won Northcote's batting average 6 times, bowling twice and was Club Champion on four occasions. He played 2 first class matches for Victoria in 1983/84.
