"A legendary Carlton figure, Bert Numa played 283 matches for the Blues between 1941/42 and 1963/64, playing in Carlton's 1947/48, 1956/57 and 1957/58 premiership sides. He was Captain of the last two, scoring 106 against Fitzroy in the 1956/57 triumph. Numa won Carlton's batting average ten times and was also Club Champion ten times.
Numa also gave great service to the game as an administrator as Carlton's VCA Delegate from 1966/67 to 1982/83. He served on the VCA Pennant Committee (1968/69 - 1982/83) and was also a State Selector (1971/72 - 1982/83), the last two seasons as Chairman.
Numa played 16 first class matches for Victoria between 1946/47 and 1953/54, scoring 575 runs @ 23.95, with a top score of 77 against Queensland at the MCG in his first Sheffield Shield match in 1949/50."
