"Ian Huntington was a fine all-round sportsman, excelling at tennis, baseball, hockey, basketball and cricket. He represented the State at both cricket and baseball and was also an accomplished football umpire, officiating in 6 VFL games. Ian played cricket for Melbourne, Melbourne University and Victoria. He made a sensational VCA debut for Melbourne in the 1951/52 final, scoring 69* in the Demons’ win over Fitzroy. He scored 205 for the Victorian 2nds against NSW in 1955/56, adding 353 with his Melbourne team-mate Barry Stevens in Sydney.
Ian has been an intrepid crusader for encouraging young cricketers, and is still very active in this area."
