A leg-spinning allrounder for three clubs, Norman Blundell also played eight first class matches for Victoria between 1946-47 and 1951-52, taking 22 wickets at 28.45. His best figures were 5/37 against Tasmania at the MCG in 1947-48.

Blundell headed the VCA bowling aggregates in 1950-51 with 46 wickets at 17.13. He also took 46 wickets in 1946-47, including the Premier record of 17/117 (9/49 & 8/68) against Hawthorn-East Melbourne at Glenferrie Oval. Incredibly, Essendon lost the game.

After 13 seasons at Windy Hill, Blundell played the last three seasons of his career as captain-coach of Footscray.

Blundell later became a respected radio commentator with the ABC and was an inaugural member of the VCA 200 Club when it was established in 1985.
