A solid, reliable left-hander, "Darky" Harris had a long and productive career, predominantly

for Richmond, over twenty years. In his first season, 1984-85, Harris topped the VCA Batting

Averages with 267 runs at 89 - he also headed the Seconds batting averages in the same season.

Harris amassed 8881 runs at 34.42, the highest of his 12 centuries a brilliant 239 against Carlton at Punt

Road in 1992-93. Originally from Geelong, Harris joined the ill-fated North Melbourne-Geelong

alliance for two seasons from 1986-87, but rejoined the Tigers when the trial amalgamation

fell through after the 1987-88 season. He later joined Carlton for a season in 2002-03.

Harris played six first class matches for Victoria, his best innings his 90 on debut against Queensland

at the MCG in 1988-89.
