A solid, reliable left-hander, "Darky" Harris had a long and productive career, predominantly
for Richmond, over twenty years. In his first season, 1984-85, Harris topped the VCA Batting
Averages with 267 runs at 89 - he also headed the Seconds batting averages in the same season.Harris amassed 8881 runs at 34.42, the highest of his 12 centuries a brilliant 239 against Carlton at Punt
Road in 1992-93. Originally from Geelong, Harris joined the ill-fated North Melbourne-Geelong
alliance for two seasons from 1986-87, but rejoined the Tigers when the trial amalgamation
fell through after the 1987-88 season. He later joined Carlton for a season in 2002-03.
Harris played six first class matches for Victoria, his best innings his 90 on debut against Queensland
at the MCG in 1988-89.
