"Originally joined Richmond from Bundalaguah in 1986 and, although he played in two 2nd XI Premierships with the Tigers, he was unable to secure a permanent 1st XI spot. Crossing to University in 1990/91, he was a major contributor to the Students' first VCA Premiership win in 72 years, but questions as to his eligibility with Uni led to Wrigglesworth's appointment as a professional at South Melbourne for the next two seasons and then to Carlton.
"Wriggles" spent seven seasons with the Blues, but it was in 1996/97 that his outstanding form was rewarded with a runaway win in the Jack Ryder Medal. Wrigglesworth's 650 runs and 55 wickets earned him an amazing 52 votes to win by 18 from Grant Gardiner. He played 5 first class matches and 8 one-dayers for the Bushrangers, his proudest moment being as a member of the winning 1994/95 Mercantile Mutual Cup team over South Australia.
"Wriggles" spent the last two seasons of his VCA career with Dandenong, joining John Miles as the only players to play for five VCA Clubs."
