David Emerson was a tremendous performer for Collingwood and Camberwell Magpies for 18 seasons from 1980/81 to 1997/98. He played 258 matches for the club and won an incredible 13 consecutive KW Stackpole Club Champion awards. Runner-up in the 1989/90 Ryder Medal, Emerson won several other awards during his career, including the Sunday Press Award (1986/87), the Sunday Age Award (1986/87 & 1989/90), the Sunday Herald Sun Award (1989/90) and the Carlton Light Award (1995/96).

Emerson would have gladly traded those personal awards for a better return than one VCA premiership (1987/88) from eight Finals appearances.
