A prolific left-handed batsman for Waverley and Richmond, Peter Davies was Club Champion at Waverley on three occasions (1979/80, 1981/82 and 1985/86) and, until recently overtaken by Brendan McArdle and Tim Hooper, held the club's batting aggregate record. Prior to the 1988/89 season he crossed to Richmond, where his father John had played 89 matches between 1956/57 and 1971/72. Davies continued to be a useful contributor at Punt Road, playing in the 1989/90 Tigers' premiership team.
Davies played 6 first class matches for Victoria in 1981/82 and 1982/83, scoring 240 runs @ 21.82.
