Allan Dick was a fine batsman and leg-spin bowler for Melbourne (7 matches), University (84) and Hawthorn-East Melbourne (122). Allan played in the Hawks' premiership teams of 1949/50, 1950/51 and 1955/56, captaining the first two of those. In the 1950/51 win over Fitzroy, he scored a brilliant 177 and, in the 1955/56 win, he contributed a fine all-round performance of 66, 5/16 and 3/46 in the innings win over South Melbourne. Allan headed the VCA batting aggregates in 1945/46, when he scored 843 runs @ 93.66 for University, as well as topping the VCA bowling aggregates in 1955/56, when he took 49 wickets @ 11.85 for Hawthorn-East Melbourne. He headed the VCA bowling averages in 1952/53 with his 33 wickets @ 9.36 for the Hawks.

He played 18 first class matches for Victoria between 1946/47 and 1956/57, scoring 485 runs @ 19.40 and taking 36 wickets @ 26.89. His best performances were 53 & 4/32 against Tasmania at the MCG in 1949/50, 3/38 & 3/49 against Queensland at the Gabba in 1951/52, 5/31 & 3/66 against NSW at the MCG in 1954/55 and 4/46 against South Australia at Adelaide in 1956/57. Allan was also an inaugural CV 200 Club member when the club was instigated in 1985.
